Technology: A Boon for the Education Sector

suchitraTechnology is no longer a curse, but a boon for the Education sector. Saluting the teachers and the educational fraternity who did not stop when almost 90% of the world had stopped, Dr. Suchitra Bhattacharya –Principal, Manav Rachna International School, Faridabad, shares her pride in being a teacher at heart. She has been the Principal of Army school and GD Goenka, has many honors and awards for her contribution in the field of education. Dr Suchitra has strong faith in the youth of the country, she is confident in their contribution to make India more advanced in all fields. She believes that teachers are facilitators to the learners. The pandemic has compelled schools to relook the curriculum and make it more suitable for distant learning. Education has been reinvented to a large extent and everyone is looking up to technology to teach children. In the interconnected world, there is the need to educate each and every individual with the purpose of life, rational thinking, having empathy, vision in life, finding out their calling and having an appropriate direction for it. The debate no longer is whether character matters. It is an established fact that creating good human beings is what is the most important. We as teachers have a very important role to make the child do positive things in life. Even universities are focussing more and more on what are the extra-curricular activities that a child has taken up during his/her schooling. They are keen to know what is the kind of volunteer work the child has taken up. This is what is bringing happiness in life and universities are open to taking such students before even looking at the academic results. Parents as well as teachers are becoming role models for the children. From the transformation in the teaching techniques to the entire idea of evaluation, all this is set to change in order to make it more relevant for success in life.
